Most of Canton has power today, although that is little consolation for the folks .

Thursday that 214 customers still remain in the dark after the damage from Sunday's Tropical Storm Irene. That is 2.13 percent of the town's NStar customers, NStar said.

Maria Costanzo of Capper Drive lost power on Sunday and finally had  power restored at 2:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Costanzo was lucky that her neighbors had power, and she still had the use of her gas stove to cook. She used a camping lantern for light in her home at night and stored food in her neighbor's fridge. The Canton resident managed to survive the four days without electricity.

"Thank goodness our power was restored at 2:00 am (yesterday) morning," she said in an email to Patch. "We couldn't have gotten through this without my great neighbors."

However, the folks on Greenwood Road are frustrated that they are still power-less.

Karen Stalcup wrote a letter to the editor, sharing her experience without electricity.

"I have always wondered what it would be like to live in Amish country," Stalcup said. "But instead of moving out to Pennsylvania, I have been living that experience in Canton. Enough already!"

She spoke of an elderly neighbor stuck on the second floor of her home. The electric stairlift she needs to get down the stairs has been stuck since Sunday.

"When an elderly person is immobile, it is important to keep them moving around to alleviate pressure ulcers from forming," Stalcup said. "Does NStar see the importance of this? Highly doubtful."
