Patch Picks: Summer Camps

Summer Camp is just around the corner.

It is that time of year again. As soon as the snow melts, spring and summer are right around the corner. Thank goodness! Now is the time to plan your children’s adventures. Wait any longer and the tuition rates will skyrocket, the dates you want may be booked and the camps may even be closed to late admissions. Think about what kind of camp suits your children’s needs, your time needs and your budget. Check our links for more information!


1. St. Gerard’s Kids Camp, Canton. For many years, the volunteers, teen parishioners and entire Canton community have collaborated to run a very affordable, action-packed summer camp, based at the . Held July 11-15,so plan accordingly. For more information, call Kathy at 781-828-3420.

2.  Blue Hills Summer Camp, Milton. Located atop scenic Chickatawbut Hill in Milton, this summer camp is run by the .  For more information about this nature-filled opportunity, contact the Blue Hills Summer Camp office at 617-333-0690.

3. Camp West Woods, Stoughton.  This camp is well-known for its specialty program in gymnastics. It also offers an Adventure Program. Conveniently located in Stoughton at 808 West Street. More information can be obtained .

4.  Old Colony YMCA Summer Day Camp, Stoughton. This is a great program and conveniently offers many flexible enrollment plans. Camp is located at the highly amenable at 445 Central Street in Stoughton. There are weekly themes, so be sure to check out their calendar, which is already up and running. 5. Children's Celtic Camp, Irish Cultural Centre, Canton. This will be the second year putting on a children's camp. It was a hidden gem last year, but the word is getting out about this decently priced, culturally-rich camp. By the end of the one-week camp, your children may be reading and speaking in basic Gaelic, enjoying games of hurling, learning Irish legends and playing tunes on the Tin Whistle.
