Updated: Snow and Ice Make a Comeback in Canton Today

The weather makes for messy commuting as ice and snow arrive this morning.

It was another . The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for today due to the , rain and icy conditions. The Canton area saw freezing rain between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. today and a temperature of a chilly 36 degrees. The rain has continued all through the afternoon.

With 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice expected, the National Weather Service says to expect some coming down and possible power outages around the state. The other concern is street flooding due to the snow-clogged street drains. The National Weather Service said to expect heavy rain in the afternoon and evening and possible street flooding. 

Crews were out on the roads this morning and afternoon in Canton, with plows and sanders working on the snowy conditions. The main streets in Canton, including Route 138 and Washington Street, were clear for driving this afternoon.

The weather took a toll on commuters this morning. The responded to seven motor vehicle accidents between 8:00 a.m. and noon today.
