Update From NStar: Could Be Several Days Before Power Is Back On

Canton residents, along with neighboring towns and cities, still without power.

How long will it be before the lights turn back on in Canton? That is what all the since Sunday morning want to know.

Currently, there are 200,000 Massachusetts residents without power , according to NStar. The outages are widely scattered, NStar said.

In Canton, 1,855 customers were without power as of Sunday night, according to .

NStar did not have updated town-by-town information on Monday.

"NStar employees are still working tirelessly to fully assess the damage to our system," NStar Spokeswoman Caroline Allen said in a statement.

"Crews will continue to work around the clock until all customers are restored," Allen said. "Due to the extent of the damage and the large number of customers effected," many customers could be without power for several days, she noted.

In Canton, NStar crews were spotted assessing the damage on Greenwood Road. DPW crews were all around town cutting down trees and cleaning up Irene's mess.
