Friends of Eddie DeSantis, who turned 90 years young on Wednesday, helped him commemorate the occasion with a special group hike and birthday celebration.

Over 40 friends including members of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) came out to join DeSantis on his birthday for the commemorative hike on a trail that loops around Ponkapoag Pond.
Beth Mosias, longtime friend of DeSantis and member of the Boston Chapter of the AMC, led and organized the hike as well as some celebratory touches–cake, cards, an enlarged photo of Eddie with good wishes from his friends and the planting of a new maple tree in his honor.
