Civil War Era Living History Encampment

A fun and exciting FREE event for ALL AGES, come experience how people lived during the Civil War years on our church grounds. Visit with soldiers and civilian members of this Union “camp”.  Learn first-hand about the customs and daily pursuits of their times, at work and leisure including clothes, methods, tools and more. Many “try-it” activities available for younger participants. Refreshments for sale, proceeds to support the presenting organization.  For more info call the church office at  781-828-2131.

Presented by the U.S. Sanitary Commission-Boston Branch (forerunners of the American Red Cross) and the 22 MA GAR  (Grand Army of theRepublic – vets of the Civil War), they note, “When looking through the window of history one should never have to view it through a dirty glass. That is the sentiment of the basis on how we teach history to the public.  The clothing of all the members have been researched and recreated from primary sources such as museum originals, fashion plates and CDV’s. No Hollywood or TV costumes or props.”
