Mommy's Time Out: Santa's Strapped

Beginning with Thanksgiving and ending after New Year's, the holiday season has everyone's heads spinning. Jump on board Santa's economical sleigh ride.

Beginning with and ending after , the holiday season has everyone’s heads spinning. Between hosting gatherings, indoor and outdoor decorating, buying gifts, sending out cards, holiday school and work events, obligatory gift exchanges, and charitable donations the holiday season is more like a chaotic compilation of running about with empty pockets and heavy heads than a joyous occasion.

We all know the holiday season is supposed to be a time for family gathering and , however, it has become a time for simply giving, giving, and more giving. Most of the giving is either due to obligation or expectation. Yes, those little angels running around with extended hands have been conditioned to EXPECT gifts simply because it is a holiday.  Not to mention everyone you encounter is asking for donations to their favorite charity.

As parents, we love seeing our children’s angelic little faces beaming with joy when unwrapping a gift they were hoping to receive, and then comes the disappointment because they didn’t receive everything they asked for. I get it; doesn’t have to pay for anything because his elves make it but Mommy and Daddy do. I think it is time for Santa to be on a budget! Five to six gifts per child seems about fair. The rationale…Santa’s sleigh only has room for so many toys or it may be too heavy to get off the ground. Those poor reindeer lugging that heavy sleigh for all the children in the world are overworked and they too deserve humane working conditions. So kids, Santa had to set a gift limit in order to keep up the gift giving business.
