Canton Obituary: John J. Madden Jr., 83

Visiting hours for Madden will be held at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home in Canton on Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 4-7 p.m.

John J. Madden, Jr., 83, of Canton passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood, according to CurrentObituary.com.

Born in Roxbury, he was raised in Roslindale and attended Sacred Heart School. Madden was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and worked as a plumber for Local 12 in Boston for many years before retiring.

He was a resident of Canton for more than 50 years, during which time he was a member of the American Legion Post #24. Loving brother of Nancy Sabey of AL and Richard Madden of Florida, he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours for Madden will be held at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home in Canton on Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 4-7 p.m.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton on Wednesday morning at 9.

Donations may be made in Madden's memory to the Canton Veteran’s Service Department at 801 Washington St. in Canton, 02021.
