Canton Obituary: Kathleen Gildea, 86

Gildea passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 4; services will be held

Kathleen Gildea (Eastwood), 86, of Canton passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton, according to CurrentObituary.com.

Gildea was born and raised in Andover, and attended Punchard High in Andover and Choate Memorial Nursing School in Woburn.

In her life, she worked as a secretary in her husband’s Dental Office for several years, and was a former member of Catholic Charities, the Junior Guild of the Infant Savior, the League of St. Apollonia and a CCD Teacher at in Canton, according to CurrentObituary.

She was an avid golfer, skier and a member of Woodland Golf Club, the Milton Hoosic Club and enjoyed spending time skiing at their home in Stratton Mountain Vermont.

Beloved wife of the late George T. Mother of George Gildea of Pennsylvania; John Gildea and his wife Ann Marie of Rhode Island; Kerry Gildea of Stoughton; Ellen Leeber and her husband Paul of Hull; Mary Kay Whelan and her husband Brian, Jane Desisto and her husband Peter and Martin Gildea and his wife Jo-An, all of Canton; James Gildea of Walpole; and Matthew Gildea and his wife Susan of Mansfield.

Gildea is survived by her twin sister, Marie O’Brien, of Fordia and a brother, John “Buddy” Eastwood, of Brookfield. Gildea is also survived by 23 grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held at the in Canton on Friday, Sept. 7, from 4-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at Interment Canton Corner Cemetery.
