Canton Obituary: Lowell A. Ascher

Mr. Ascher is a former resident of Canton.

Lowell A. Ascher, of Hingham, formerly of Braintree and Canton, died April 25, 2013, at the age of 81.

Lowell grew up in South Dakota. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he met his wife. He served in Korea during the Korean War. Later, he graduated from Northeastern University and the new couple decided to settle in this area and raise a family.

Lowell worked as a sales engineer for Hewlett-Packard for 31 years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent many days fly fishing on the Cape Cod Canal. He was a longtime member of the Recreational Fishing Alliance. Lowell also enjoyed gardening, especially growing his own vegetables which all his neighbors were able to enjoy.

He loved spending time with his family. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Tangney) Ascher; loving father of Joseph Ascher of Novato, Calif., Julie Ascher of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mary Kazan of Clinton, N.J., and Valerie Odell of Sandwich; cherished grandfather of Eric, Christina, Dennis, Angela, Bob, John, Brandon, Kailee, and Mark; and great-grandfather to Tyler, Ryan, Mya and Lyla; brother of the late Gladys, Elmer, Irene, Luella and Kenneth. Lowell also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and good friends.

A memorial service was held May 2.
