Canton Obituary: Robert J. Kelleher

Longtime Canton resident Robert J. Kelleher, age 86, passed away July 9.

Robert J. Kelleher, age 86, passed away July 9 at the Clark House in Westwood after a long illness.

A resident of Canton and Harwichport for over 60 years, Robert was born in Boston and grew up in West Roxbury and Roslindale.

He was a WW II Veteran where he served in the Seabees branch of the Navy as a Seaman First Class Heavy Equipment Operator in Okinawa, Japan.

Upon his retirement in 1984, after a lifelong career with General Foods Corp., Robert enjoyed his retirement years bike riding around Harwichport with his grandchildren showing them back roads and secret paths.

He also enjoyed boating and woodworking where he made many fine pieces of furniture. He also loved to cook, especially during the holidays. Winter trips to Englewood, FL for family vacations was something he always looked forward to.

Beloved husband of the late Geraldine M. (Griffin). Father of David and his wife Linda of Plymouth and Janet Brown and her husband Walter of Stoughton.

Cherished grandfather of Bryan and Kaitlyn Kelleher and Allyson and Timothy Brown. Brother of the late Dorothy MacDuff, Vincent, Paul and Richard Kelleher. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.

Relatives and friends invited to attend a funeral service at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St. in Canton Monday at noon. Visting hours prior to the service on Monday from 10 to 12. Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, W. Roxbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Canton Veteran’s Service Department 801 Washington St. Canton, MA 02021.
