Canton Obituary: Albert P. Zaniboni

Mr Albert P. Zaniboni was the Assistant Director of Public Works for the Town of Milton.

Albert P. Zaniboni, age 88 of Canton, died May 23,2013, at home surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Hyde Park and graduated from Hyde Park High. After his senior year, he enlisted in the Army during WW II and landed on Omaha Beach during the Normandy Invasion on D Day.

After returning from the war, he married Dorothy and began a marriage that lasted 66 years.

A longtime member of Local # 4 Operating Engineers, he was a master mechanic, equipment operator and superintendant for A.A. Will Corporation for many years before becoming the Assistant Director of Public Works for the Town of Milton.

After retiring he enjoyed gardening and harness racing as a horse owner and trainer as well as owning and caring for several horses during his lifetime.

He was beloved husband of Dorothy A. (Dugan), father of John A. of Stoughton, William E. of Mansfield, Nancy Sullivan of Norwood and Jean Douglass of Marshfield, brother of Dolores Hufnagel of Hyde Park and the late Ida Spencer, Anna Sullivan, Celia Sparrow, Mary Hubbard, Louis, William and Emile Zaniboni.

Visiting hours will be at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St., Canton, Tuesday 4-8 pm. Funeral mass at St. Gerard Majella Church, Canton, Wednesday morning at 10. Burial will be in Canton Corner Cemetery.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Assn., 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.
