Obituary: Gemma J. Brongo

Mrs. Gemma J. Brongo was a retired postal service worker.

Gemma J. Brongo (Molino), 96,  of Canton and St. Augustine Florida, died peacefully in her home June 13, 2013, after a brief illness. 

Born in Cambridge, she was raised in Somerville. She graduated from Somerville High School in 1934 and moved to Canton in 1957. Gemma was a retired U.S. Postal Service worker. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Italy, and was a member of the Sons of Italy, Norwood Italian Lodge. Gemma’s love and caring ways were always there for her family which was most important to her; she especially enjoyed family gatherings.

She is the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Molino (Fustolo), devoted wife for over 54 years of the late Anthony C. Brongo, loving mother of Diana Franco and her husband George of Canton, with whom she lived with for over 30 years,loving mother of Leonora Tobin and her husband Robert of Conn., proud grandmother of Lorna Franco, Dana Franco, Gina Franco, Darren Franco, Robin Field, Kimberly Harrow, Pamela Sachs, Kristen Risk and 14 great grandchildren, in addition to several nieces and nephews, sister of the late Mario Molino, Darwin Molino, Olga Viola and Ester Canto.

Visiting hours are in the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman St. Canton, Monday from 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A service celebrating her life will be held in the United Church of Christ, 1541 Washington St., Canton, Tuesday June 18,  at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the National Cemetery, Bourne at 2 p.m.
