Editor's Notebook: A Bittersweet Farewell to Canton

New beginnings for your Patch editor and goodbyes.

Since September 2010, I have had the pleasure of being the for Canton Patch. Since the , I have covered the town of Canton, Massachusetts.

Starting out with a , Canton Patch hit the roads of Canton to bring news and information to the town. As Patch continued to evolve, change and grow across the nation, so did the staff and site.

Now, with myself, two freelancers and a group of , Canton Patch continues to cover the community. With a focus on schools, local government, businesses and hyper-local issues,

Sadly, my time with Canton Patch is coming to an end. My last day with Canton Patch is Wednesday, March 7. My husband took a new job in Scarsdale and we are moving to New York. I will be the new Local Editor for the Scarsdale Patch and so I must bid farewell to my native New England roots and to Canton.

I have truly enjoyed covering Canton. From the schools, to the fire and police departments, to the people, sports and businesses–the town has been nothing but friendly, helpful and welcoming.

What a wonderful experience as a reporter/editor/writer to be so warmly accepted into a community. Even my fellow reporters at and the Canton Journal have been a pleasure to work with!

I will miss eating at , playing with my nieces at , shopping at and bumping into folks around town. I will truly miss New England, my amazing Patriot/Bruins/Sox/Celtics Nations and all my family and friends who live here.

Thank you for an amazing experience covering Canton.

Once I leave, Canton Patch will be run by Direct any news, photos, press releases, story ideas and Canton information to Margaret and she will be happy to assist you. Email her at: margaret.carroll-bergman@patch.com

As always, feel free to reach out to me through my Patch email, lisa.gentes@patch.com while I am in New York.

Wishing you all the best, Canton!

You did a terrific job in Canton, Lisa and I know you'll be a great success in Scarsdale. I never say, "Good luck," because there's no luck involved. It's all about loving what you do, working to be the best you can be - and talent. You'll have no issues there. Here's a little going away song. What else would you expect from me? Let's stay in touch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7v65_oRbXs&feature=related
