Canton Patch's Norfolk County Court Roundup: October 23

The following information came from various courts in Norfolk County. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction unless otherwise stated.

Canton

Kevin M. O'Rourke, 27, of 967 Center St., Brockton was found guilty of driving after license suspension and was sentenced by a Stoughton District Court judge to serve 10 days in the Norfolk County House of Correction. O'Rourke was also found guilty of a license plate violation.

The charges stems from a March 13 incident in Canton at 7 p.m. as police were traveling behind a Chevrolet pickup truck on Washington Street and found that the license plate was registered to a different vehicle. Police stopped the truck and O'Rourke allegedly told police the plate was to his boss's vehicle.

Braintree

North Weymouth man charged with bouncing checks fails to appear in court

Kenneth J. McAuliffe, 47, of 64 Gilmore St., North Weymouth had a default warrant issued for his arrest when he failed to appear in Quincy District Court on charges including two counts of larceny over $250.

The charges stem from a Sept. 27, 2010 incident in Braintree where police allege McAuliffe purchased seven appliances totaling $3,337 from an appliance store and that the check later bounced. On Sept. 29, he bought two Whirlpool Wash and Coin Dry appliances totaling $1,462 and that the check also bounced. The store said McAuliffe refused to pay for the items totaling $4,809 and had refused to return phone calls. Police said McAuliffe has a record of larceny by check in 11 separate incidents and had an active felony warrant out of Quincy District Court for two counts of larceny by check.

Case of credit card fraud continued to January

Alie Jalloh, 30, of 590 Middle St., Apt. 811, East Weymouth had charges of larceny over $250, uttering a forged credit card, and possession of a forged press credit card continued to Jan. 10, 2012 in Quincy District Court.

The charges stem from a March 12 incident at at the . Police said that store loss prevention were detaining Jalloh, who is alleged to have purchased and signed for a $500 gift card using a bank card that had been reprogrammed to a different account. Jalloh allegedly then tried to purchase another $500 gift card but did not complete the transaction. Loss prevention contacted CitizensBank and were notified that the bank card had been reported lost or stolen.

Nantucket man receives suspended jail sentence on drug charge

Cort F. Vaughn, 21, of 6 1/2 Lewis Couft, Nantucket was found guilty of possession of a Class B drug, subsequent offense, and was sentenced to serve nine months in the Norfolk County House of Correction, suspended to Oct. 9, 2012, and supervised probation until Oct. 9, 2012.

The charge stems from a Sept. 2 incident at the South Shore Plaza parking garage in Braintree at 5:30 p.m. when police noticed a Chevrolet Cavalier parked facing a cement suppport column with two people inside. Police observed the female driver manipulating an object with her hands which she then brought to her mouth and lit up. Police observed Vaughn allegedly lean forward and put a small object to his nose. Police approached the vehicle and Vaughn allegedly swallowed a small blue object. They also found a burnt, rolled piece of tin foil inside the car and three tightly rolled currency bills. Vaughn allegedly told police he swallowed a Percocet pill and said that his girlfriend, the driver, had arrived with four pills, which she then crushed in tin foil.

Milton

Milton Hospital patient charged with malicious destruction of property fails to appear in court

John L. Eggleston, 40, of 76 Union St., Apt. 12, Randolph had a default warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in Quincy District Court on charges of malicious destruction of property over $250 and disturbing the peace.

The charges stem from a Jan. 6 incident in the Milton Hospital Emergency Room where Eggleston, described as a Section 12 patient, ran from the hospital causing extensive damage to both sets of glass doors. The damage was so significant, according to the police report, that patients in need of care could not get access or exit the Emergency Room. Police found Eggleston in a back yard and arrested him.

Court issues default warrant when Jamaica Plan man fails to appear in court

James E. Brown, 42, of 822 Green St., Apt. 208, Jamaica Plain had a default warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court on a charge of driving after license suspension.

The charge stems from a June 11 incident in Milton when State Police assigned to the Milton barracks clocked Brown on radar driving a vehicle on Unquity Road 20 miles per hour over the posted 35 mph
limit. State Police stopped the vehicle and Brown explained that his license had been suspended but that his diabetic girlfriend, owner of the vehicle and a passenger in the car, needed to go to the hospital and was unable to drive.

Charge of driving with license suspended against Stoughton man continued without guilty finding

Jerome W. Daye, 25, of 106 Rockland St., Stoughton had a charge of driving after license suspension continued without a guilty finding to April 10, 2012. The charge stems from a June 28 incident in Milton at 7:30 p.m. when State Police found a Chevy Tahoe stopped on Blue Hill River Road at the top of the ramp and determined that Daye's license had been suspended.

Motor vehicle charges against Mansfield man continued to November hearing

Jeremy S. Newell, 34, of 160 Franklin St., Mansfield had charges of driving after license suspension, refusing to identify himself as the driver of a motor vehicle, and failure to stop for police continued in Stoughton District Court to Nov. 9 for a pretrial hearing.

The charges stem from a July 20 incident at 8 p.m. in Milton when State Police stopped Newell's vehicle on Harrison Boulevard and he allegedly told police he did not have his license on him, then identified himself  as Gary Haywood. As police continued to investigate, Newell fled the vehicle on foot with a State Trooper in pursuit. The officer reported falling over a large rock and losing sight of the suspect. Police called in K-9 units and an air wing, which failed to locate Newell. Police later were able to identify Newell and his address through his cell phone, and went to his place of work, to which he did not report that day. Police brought him in to court on a summons.
