Canton Woman Removed from School, Stalked Theo Epstein

Canton resident Kathleen Kearney came unannounced to Holy Name on Jan. 10, while wearing a GPS monitoring bracelet.

A female suspect from Canton who had to be removed from the Holy Name School in West Roxbury after showing up unannounced is also a suspect in stalking former Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein.

Holy Name School Principal Lynne Workman sent out an email about the incident, in which Kathleen Kearney, showed up unannounced, to discuss a volunteer librarian position. At some point she wandered off into the building, and school officials called 911 for Boston Police and medical help. She was found shortly after and no students were ever in danger.

The incident was enough for Cook County authorities in Illinois to notify Epstein on Jan. 10 about Kearney's “location was unknown” and that “he would be informed when alerts have been cleared,” court records show, according to the Chicago Tribune. The Tribune reports Kearney's GPS monitoring bracelet was not charged, which is why officials warned Epstein.

Kearney, 45, of Canton, Mass., was charged last summer with felony stalking and criminal trespass after she allegedly flew from Boston to Chicago to look for Epstein at his home and at Wrigley Field, reported the Tribune.

According to prosecutors, Kearney went to Epstein's Illinois home and spoke with his wife, including saying she had brought a gift for the couple's young son.

Tthe judge in Kearney's case has issued a warrant for her arrest, according to the Tribune. Prosecutors are seeking to extradite her to Chicago once she is released from the Boston mental health facility where she has been undergoing treatment for the past two weeks, according to court records.
