Carbon Monoxide Sends Three Canton Residents to the Hospital

Canton Fire responded Friday morning to the call.

Carbon monoxide poisoning sent three Canton residents to the hospital this morning. received a call at 4:52 a.m. today (Friday) for an unresponsive adult at 6 Robbin Road, according to the Canton Fire Department Spokesman .

"The mother was unresponsive originally whey they called us," Marshall said. "When (Canton Fire) got there, we found high levels of Carbon Monoxide in the house."

All three adults in the home were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for treatment, Marshall said.

Canton Fire, Stoughton Fire and Sharon Fire each transported one patient in an ambulance to MGH, he noted.

"They were pretty sick from the CO," he said. "They did not have any CO detectors in the house."

A car left running overnight in the family's garage, which is attached to the home, is believed to be the cause of the CO poisoning, Marshall said.

Marshall noted that all residents need to check their homes and be sure they have the state-required detectors on each level of the house.

Homeowners must have a CO detector on each floor, and one within ten feet of each bedroom, he stated.
