Fire Strikes Sharon Home, Canton Fire Assists

A cat perished in the fire at 2 Lyndon Road in Sharon.

Canton, Stoughton and Sharon firefighters responded to a fire at a Sharon home Friday that resulted in the death of a cat.

Nobody was home when a passerby reported the fire at 2 Lyndon Road at 4:52 p.m., Sharon said. No injuries were reported, Wright said.

The fire has been deemed accidental, and apparently started in a back bedroom in the single-family home, the fire chief said. Investigators have narrowed the cause to an electrical malfunction, he said.

The state fire marshal's office responded to the scene, he said.

The fire caused a fair amount of smoke damage at the home, Wright said.
