Update: Norfolk County D.A. Still Hospitalized Following Multi-Car Accident

Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey crossed the double yellow line on Centre Street in Milton on Tuesday evening causing a four-vehicle accident.

Update written by Adam Roberts of Patch:

Norfolk County District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey remains hospitalized after he crossed the double yellow line on Centre Street in Milton around 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17.

According to Milton Deputy Police Chief John King, Morrissey had just left his Canton office and was traveling to his home in Quincy when his vehicle collided with two other vehicles in the westbound lane. A fourth vehicle swerved to avoid the accident, driving off the roadway.

King said the reason the District Attorney crossed the center line is unknown.

Milton Police issued motor vehicle citations to two operators related to the incident, but the charges are unknown at this time.

"I do not comment on the identities or charges of individuals who have a right to be heard on those citations in court first," said King.

According to the Milton Police Log, two people were transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton and two others were taken to Boston Medical Center.

King did not indicate what hospitals any of the patents were taken to but said three people were treated and released, but Morrissey remained hospitalized Wednesday afternoon for treatment and observation.

Morrissey, 58, was elected Norfolk County D.A. in 2010.  Canton is one of 28 communities in Norfolk County.
