Curry College Student Killed in Canton Car Crash

Evan Bard, 20, was a passenger in a car that slammed into a wall and tree early Saturday morning on Bolivar Street in Canton.

The person killed in an early Saturday morning vehicle crash on Bolivar Street in Canton has been identified as 20-year-old Evan Bard of Agawam, Massachusetts, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office. 

Bard was a student at nearby Curry College, where she was a junior studying nursing.

The Norfolk County District Attorney's Office says Bard was a passenger in a car that slammed into a wall and tree on Bolivar Street shortly after 12 a.m.

CBS Boston reported:

The driver, who has not been identified suffered head injuries and was transported to Boston Medical Center. Investigators have not determined the cause of the crash.

Curry College posted a statement about Bard's death on its Facebook page:

Curry College is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our students, Evan Bard, a nursing major in the Class of 2014, who passed away early this morning in a car accident in Canton. Evan was a resident of the Suites, and a member of the cheerleading team.

The Curry College community sends our thoughts and prayers to Evan’s family and friends. Our hearts go out to them at this difficult time.

Saturday marked the end of the spring semester at Curry, but the school is offering counseling support for those who need it.

Early [Saturday] morning at approximately 12:05 a.m., Canton Police responded to a one car motor vehicle crash on Bolivar Street in Canton. 

Based on a preliminary investigation, it appears that the operator of a Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound on Bolivar Street when it struck a wall and immediately thereafter a tree. 

There were two occupants in the motor vehicle; a male operator and a female front seat passenger.  The operator suffered head injuries and was transported to Boston Medical Center for treatment.  The female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.  She has been identified as 20-year-old Evan Bard of Agawam, Massachusetts. 

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.  Further information will be provided as the case develops.
