Update: Fatal Car Crash on 95 South at Neponset Street

The following is by Tamara Starr of Patch:

A serious car crash involving two vehicles resulted in the death of one of the drivers, and temporarily closed I-95 South on the Norwood/Canton line near Neponset Street (exit 11A/B) Monday morning.

On Monday around 4:34 a.m., Norwood Fire received a call about a two car accident on Route 95 southbound, north of exit 11A.

According to State Police, it was determined that a 2008 Lexus sedan had made contact with a 2013 Chevy Silverado. The Lexus then hit the median strip and landed against the bridge abutment.

"The operator of the Lexus [a 33-year-old from Boston] was ejected and declared deceased on scene," state police said.  "The operator of the Chevy truck was not injured and not expected to be facing charges."

Fire crews from Norwood, Sharon and Canton assisted in looking for people who may have been injured due to the accident.

"After performing a secondary visual search and a State Police K-9 sweep of the area it was determined that no other persons were involved in the accident," George Morrice, Norwood Police spokesman said.

Route 95 was shut down for the morning as the State Police Accident Reconstruction Team worked.

At this time the facts and circumstances of the crash are still under investigation by State Police.

The name of the deceased driver has not been released.
