Suspicious Letter Prompts Quick Response from Canton Police, Fire

The letter was taken for testing after being found at the Cell Sciences building on Thursday.

Hazmat crews obtained on Neponset Street in Canton on Thursday.

The incident prompted quick response from Canton police and fire officials, who said the letter did not pose an immediate threat.

"Basically, it was just a suspicious letter with some markings on it," said Canton Deputy Fire Chief Scott Johnson. "Nothing was disseminated, everything was kept in an envelope."

Hazmat crews took the letter to test it for possible chemicals

"It's just a suspicious letter," Johnson said. "It could just be a hoax, we don't know. No one got sick."
