Candidate Night in Canton

Candidates participated in a forum at the Canton Public Library.

Candidates for Canton's April 5 participated in a "kitchen table" style forum last night at Canton Public Library. The evening event was sponsored by the Blue Hills Civic Association and Canton High School's

"Candidates night went very well," Blue Hills Civic Association Member Sue Gibbs said. "There are no contested seats so it was a more casual "kitchen table" conversation with lots of open discussion."

Canton High School JSA members came up with questions to ask the candidates, Gibbs said.

"Hannah Chenkin, Stephanie Gowing and Dave Rosenburg and others had come up with questions while on their recent trip to All three participants were confident, articulate and poised as they took turns asking questions."

The town is not expecting a large voter turnout for the April 5 Annual Town Election. All the candidates running are up for re-election this year.

, the current Board of Selectmen chair, and , a current selectman, are seeking reelection for another three-year term on the board. Elisabeth Salisbury and Jill Stevens are both seeking reelection for the two, three-year spots.

Julie Goodman is seeking reelection to the one opening with the Board of Health; Christopher J. Connolly is running for reelection for the one, three-year position on the Planning Board; Daniel J. Flood is running for reelection for the one, three-year Board of Assessors position; Glen Hannington is running for reelection to the single, five-year Housing Authority position; and Susan Cogliano, George T. Comeau and Dorothy M. Shea are all seeking reelection to the their three-year positions as Trustees to the Canton Public Library.
