Canton's Blue Hills Regional Receives Security Grant from Norfolk DA

Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey has been funding grants for area schools, including Canton, out of local criminal busts.

recently received a $3,000 school safety grant from Norfolk County District Attorney Michael W. to make capital improvements to the building.

The money is slated to be used for installing security cameras. The school is one of seven school districts in Norfolk County that is receiving this grant.

“This is all money confiscated from drug dealers and organized crime,” District Attorney Morrissey said in a press release. “Now, money that was being used to finance the criminal activities that make our communities less safe and secure is being re-directed to make them more secure.”

“Drugs and violence are robbing our communities of resources and robbing our young people of the future they deserve,” Morrissey also said. “I like the principle of taking money forfeited by drug dealers and using it to make those young people and their schools safer.”

“We would like to thank the Norfolk District Attorney’s office for this generous gift,” said Blue Hills Assistant Superintendent / Principal Michael J. Barrett. “As we continue to provide the safest environment possible for our Blue Hills staff and students, this $3, 000 will be put to good use. We have used this money to purchase additional cameras for our security system. Thanks again for helping keep our schools safe.”
