Canton Voters Back Gomez Over Markey in Special Senate Election

Congressman Ed Markey, a Democrat, won the election statewide, but Canton voters preferred Republican candidate Gabriel Gomez.

In Tuesday's Special Senate Election, Democrat Congressman Ed Markey won statewide with 55-percent of the vote, with Republican businessman Gomez bringing in 45-percent, according to Boston.com.

Gomez received 2,500 votes in Canton (53-percent) to Markey's 2,223 (47-percent), according to town-by-town results on Boston.com.
