Canton Youth Commission Throwing a Pool Party Wednesday Night

The Youth Commission is hosting a pool party for middle school students at the Bolivar Street Pool.

Pool party! For one of its first events, the decided to embrace the final days of summer. The CYC is hosting a party at the on Wednesday for Canton middle school students.

On Wednesday, August 17, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., the is throwing a back-to-school pool party for Canton kids in grades six, seven and eight. Tickets are $2 and are being sold on a first-come first-serve basis, according to Youth Commission Member Brian Greenwood.

Tickets are being sold Tuesday, August 16 at from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, August 17 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

"The event is limited to the first 150 kids," Greenwood said.

Children do need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian when they buy a ticket, and must show proof of Canton residency, he noted. However, kids can enjoy the party without their parents.

The Canton Youth Commission has been "newly reorganized and re-energized," Greenwood said.

Members include town volunteers and younger residents. The goal of the commission is to support youngsters in "becoming well-rounded, educated and successful members of society," according to the CYC. 

The commission's focus is “to provide the support, guidance and opportunity to assist the youth of our town, its future, in achieving their life’s goal(s.)"
