CDC: Quick Health & Safety Tips For Families
Being healthy and safe is just minutes away.
The following text is compiled from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tip sheets:
"Being healthy and safe takes commitment, but it doesn’t have to be time-consuming," says the CDC. "Most things are so simple and take so little time, that you’ll wonder why you’ve been avoiding them."
According to the CDC, we have 1,440 minutes in the day. Here are some quick tips that will only take away 1 to 5 of those minutes:

- Take folic acid.
- Wash hands.
- Check cruise ship inspection scores.
- Know local travel laws.
- Prevent poisonings.
- Protect your skin.
- Buckle up.
- Protect your teen driver.

- Test smoke alarms.
- Do a skin and body check.
- Make an appointment.
- Know your numbers.
- Make sure you are up-to-date on your vaccinations.
- Eat healthy.
- Wash children’s hands and toys regularly.
- Know asthma triggers.
- Learn the signs for developmental problems.
- Know the signs and symptoms for heart attack and stroke.
- Encourage health through play.
- Take a break.
- Take care of your teeth and gums.
- Keep foods safe.
- Ask questions.
- Listen to a health podcast.
- Disinfect surfaces.
- If you have diabetes, check for sores and vision changes.
- Get a radon test for your home.
- Go green.
