Highlights from the Canton Board of Selectmen Meeting

Canton , along with several other municipal groups and departments, are busy prepping for this year's Annual Town Meeting. Last night, the Board of Selectmen discussed a variety of town items in addition to a two-hour review of the Town Meeting Warrant Articles.

  • Selectman John Connolly held a moment of silence to honor two retired who recently passed away. The board observed a moment of silence for Paul Hagen and .
  • The Board of Selectmen appointed Dorice M. Khoury as a member of the .
  • The Board approved a request to hold the 10th Annual Road Race on Sunday May 1.
  • A new DPW worker will be starting on March 8. The board appointed Gerald Peters at the new mechanic and service technician.
  • The selectmen approved new parking restrictions on Green Lodge Street that will be implemented in the winter of 2012. Restrictions will allow for more and will include signs to inform drivers where they can park along the street.
  • Selectman Avril Elkort reminded the public to attend the Candidates Night being held on March 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the . Residents can come out to meet the folks that are running for office this year, along with other elected officials.
