Norfolk DA Presents Leadership Awards to Canton HS Students

The students were awarded during the 2012 Peer Leadership Conference in Norwood.

Nine students from Canton High School recently were honored with peer leadership awards from Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrisey, according to an announcement from his office last week.

The students were among the 23 Norfolk County high school students to be awarded this year.

“The strength and health of school communities derives largely from the students who lead by example,” Morrissey said after presenting the award at his 2012 Peer Leadership Conference, held in Norwood. “Good teachers and thoughtful administrators are important, but it is students like these doing the work.”

He added, “Canton High School put forward a very impressive group of nominees. Their nominations detailed work building the school community and also working in the larger community.”

The awards were given halfway through the five-hour conference, which provided workshops and presentations on bullying prevention, dating violence, drug and alcohol use and mentoring, among other subjects.
