Romney Testimony to be Considered for Public Relese

The court rejected Stemberg's request to close the hearing, according to media reports.

A 1991 testimony given by Presidential candidate Gov. Mitt Romney in the divorce of Staples founder Tom Stemberg was under consideration for public release on Thursday at Norfolk Probate and Family Court in Canton, according to a Boston.com. report.

On Wednesday, the court rejected Stemberg’s request to close the hearing, according to the Boston Globe, which is looking to access the impounded testimony of Romney.

Romney was the owner and chief executive of Bain Capital at the time of the divorce; Bain had invested $650,000 in Staples to help the company open its first store in Brighton in 1986, according to the Globe.
