Canton Selectmen Approve Help for Vets Department

Selectmen approve a new clerk position for Vets Agent

The Canton Board of Selectmen voted last week to approve the appropriation of a part-time clerk position for the for the Department of Veterans Services.

Veteran’s agent Tony Andreotti asked the board for the help in case he’s ever indisposed.

“I’ve been procrastinating for many years for getting some part-time help,” he said. “I began to realize if I was out for any length of time it would be chaos.”

Andreotti said he sends out $15,000 a month to veterans and widows.

“They need that money badly and timely,” he said. “With all that I said maybe its time for me to look at a part-time clerk.”

The clerk would help with medical bills and make sure there wouldn’t be any delays in getting that money out to those who need it. It will be a 10-hour position.
