Senator Joyce Looks To Increase Energy Efficiency Projects And Education In Massachusetts

(D-Milton) provided the welcoming address and moderated a panel of energy experts at a recent Mobilize Energy Efficiency in America (“Mobilize”) conference held at the Boston Convention Center.  This large symposium-style event educated businesses, municipal officials and contractors on available government programs and tax incentives.  Mobilize is one of the largest symposiums of its kind in the country, bringing together energy experts and officials from the U.S. Department of Energy, the Carbon War Room, CEOs from renewable energy and capital asset management, and government leaders.

“Our goal in this event was to teach businesses, contractors and municipalities how to successfully utilize programs that provide incentives for energy efficiency improvements,” said Senator Joyce.  “Who doesn’t want to spur economic growth and save money on energy costs?”  Senator Joyce has been a long-time advocate for energy efficiency programs.  Many of these programs allow business to cut energy costs, which translates into new business ventures, expansion, and jobs.  These programs can also dramatically reduce carbon emissions and pollution.

Boston was an appropriate setting for Mobilize, as the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) named Massachusetts #1 in the country in its 2011 annual scorecard that ranks the states.  The ACEEE ranks states according to green policies, which include energy-usage standards, building energy codes, carbon emission standards, appliance efficiency standards, mass transit funding, and financial policies and incentives for energy efficient policies.
