Newton woman charged with leaving scene of accident
Faina Shevchenko, 43, of 137 River St., West Newton was arraigned in Stoughton District Court on a charge of leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Shevchenko pleaded innocent to the charge and was released on personal recognizance. The case was continued to Sept. 20 for a pretrial hearing. The charge stems from a Nov. 13, 2011 incident in Canton at 5 p.m. when police were told to be on the lookout for a gray Honda Civic operating in the wrong direction of Neponset Street with significant damage on the driver's side of the vehicle, police said in the report.
Case of restraining order violation continued
Stephen J. Durette, 49, of 69 Grove St., Worcester had a charge of violating a restraining order continued to Sept. 18 in Stoughton District Court. The charges stems from a Feb. 3, 2011 incident in Canton at 4:10 p.m. when police responded to a report of a woman who received a telephone call from Durette, her ex-husband, in violation of the protective order, according to police.
