Update from the Town of Canton: Boil Water Order to Continue Through Sunday

Folks in Canton need to continue to boil water before consumption.

This information is provided by the Town of Canton:

The issued by the Department of Environmental Protection will continue thru Sunday, October 2. The town continues to flush the entire water system which replaces the water supply and ensures the chlorination of the entire water distribution system to your location. Chlorination is a normal and routine water quality treatment approach.

The additional chlorination may result in a change to the water color. Residents may also notice a chlorine odor from the water. Neither of these conditions are a health hazard. In fact these are signs that the town's operational response is working to resolve water quality concerns as soon as possible.

Plans to establish a point of distribution for free water pickup for residents is underway and is expected to be operational by Friday September 30. Further information on this will be provided via a reverse 911 call to you (expected) today.

The town appreciates your continued patience and understanding. Our continued goal is to ensure public health and safety and this will guide all decision making.
