Woman Accused in Spa Prostitution Case Pleads 'Not Guilty' in Superior Court

The local spa owner faces 15 charges in all.

The woman accused of deriving support from prostitution at three local spas, including Sparkle Day Spa in Canton, pleaded not guilty in Norfolk Superior Court Wednesday, MyFox Boston reported.

Terry Mussari, 45, of Stoughton, was arraigned on 15 charges total, including deriving support from prostitution, owning a place of prostitution and minimum wage violations. She was in Brockton District Court, but was indicted by a statewide jury Friday, moving the case to Superior Court.

Mussari was arrested in October of 2011, following an investigation into allegations of prostitution at her three spas -- Aria Day Spa in Brockton, Sparkle Day Spa in Canton (at the Cobb’s Corner Village Shoppes) and Spa Bellissimo in Norwood -- as well as allegations that employees sold drugs to customers and to other employees.

“During the course of the investigation, authorities developed evidence indicating that all three spas were allegedly offering sexual activity between masseuses employed by Mussari and their clients in exchange for cash that was characterized as ‘tips,’” the Attorney General’s Office said through a press release.

Mussari was released on $2,000 bail and is due back in court on May 17 for a pre-trial hearing.
