The presentation was made by New England Patriots Executive Director of Community Affairs Andre Tippett, a former linebacker who achieved Patriots and Pro-Football Hall of Fame stature.  It was filmed for the WBZ-TV (Channel 4) broadcast, “Patriots All-Access.”

As part of the Coach of the Week honor, the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation will donate $1,000 to the Blue Hills Regional football program.

When it was time for him to speak to the crowd, Catabia modestly deflected the attention, first recognizing all the assistant Blue Hills football coaches and warmly thanking them for their efforts, then paying tribute to the players themselves, who were perched in the bleachers raptly watching the proceedings.

“The payoff is now for these kids,” Catabia said. “I wanted them here today.  It’s their season. We are all proud of the accomplishments and the integrity which our students show us, whether on or off the field.”

Tippett indicated his admiration for the prowess and dedication of the team.

“Eight and zero is impressive,” he noted, referring to the team’s won-lost record as of the day of the ceremony. “You guys didn’t get there by luck.”

Assistant Superintendent / Principal Michael J. Barrett also voiced his great appreciation and respect for Catabia. “Coach Catabia is all for the kids. He has dedicated over 30 years to the Blue Hills community. He leads by example and expects only the best from his student-athletes…both on and off the field. Coach Catabia and his staff do a great job helping these kids understand the game of football, but more importantly, they play an important role in helping them develop into young men. Hats off to Coach Catabia, as this award is certainly well-deserved. Go Warriors!”

“It was a pleasure to visit with Coach Catabia and his team at practice today,” said Tippett. “The Warriors’ stout defense led the way to victory on Friday night and it’s clear that the team’s success is a direct result of commitment and hard work on the practice field. I am proud to present Coach Catabia and the Blue Hills Regional High School football program with this award and donation.”

At the conclusion of the season, one high school coach will be named the New England Patriots High School Coach of the Year and will receive an additional $2,000 contribution toward the school’s football program, according to the NE Patriots.
