WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: “Dexter is a hard working player who gets every ounce of talent out of himself. He is very coachable with a solid work ethic. He is a great team player that is unselfish and gives all the credit to his teammates, especially the offensive line, and his coaches. More than being a great athlete, Dexter is a quiet leader, good student and person.” – Canton Head Coach Dave Bohane

“I owe a lot to my teammates and coaches and teachers and Canton High School. We’re very close here and we work as a team and I’m just a small piece of it. The team is very organized, motivated and we have good team chemistry and players that care more about the team and less about themselves. Hopefully we can keep winning against league competition and get Canton High School football back to the top.” -Dexter Green

WHY IS HE THE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Dexter Green, a 5’10,” 175-pound junior running back, followed his first game effort of 16 carries for 131 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-14 home win against Weston, with 19 carries for 242 yards and 43 additional yards receiving and three touchdowns in a 26-12 home win against Quincy. In 2010, Green only played in the final (Thanksgiving Day) game of the season. In that game against Stoughton, Green rushed for 70 yards and had 30 more yards in receptions and was named Canton’s Offensive-Player-of–the-Game. Green has burst onto the scene from not playing to becoming one of the top running backs in the area.

FAVORITE CAREER ATHLETIC MOMENT: Green moved to San Diego for three years and played Pop Warner Football. His team qualified for the Nationals and traveled to Orlando.

STATISTICS: Five touchdowns to go along with 373 yards rushing in two games on only 35 carries, averaging over ten yards per carry this season.

FUTURE GOALS: To play Division-1 college football. Green said, “I have to continue to work hard in the classroom, in the weight room and on the football field if I want to accomplish my future goals.”

COLLEGE CHOICE: Undecided, but has always followed the Ohio State Buckeyes.

NEXT UP: Home Game against Hockomock League (Kelley-Rex (large schools) Division) rival North Attleboro. Canton is a member of the Davenport (small schools) Division. This will be a very stiff test for the streaking Bulldogs.

WHAT’S ON YOUR IPOD: Green enjoys listening to all types of music. He likes rap, but his pre-game choice is rock n’ roll.

OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL: Green enjoys spending time with family and friends.

FINAL NOTES: Green also plays basketball at Canton High School and in the spring looks forward to competing in Track or Lacrosse. Green also wants to give a special thanks to his mother Elizabeth for her support. He misses his grandfather, who passed away, and he was very close to. Before each game, during every National Anthem, you can see Dexter looking up to the sky for his grandfather. We all know that his grandfather is watching and is very proud of his grandson.
