Accomplishments: Joseph LaRosee “began writing a column in the Dedham Transcript for the opportunity to…launch a platform for my ideas and opinions,” the teen said. The Blue Hills senior said writing is a longtime passion and he made the choice to do it.

LaRosee noticed a societal pattern where work has compromised the joy in many lives. This inspired him to “always try to be happy with my situations…even if [life] throws an unexpected curve ball,” he said.

The electronics student pays attention to what makes him happy rather than what is expected of him. “Even if you have to do something you don’t really want to, you can make it fun...if you have the right attitude,” he said.

While LaRosee recognizes a “variety of skills” that have helped him, he credits his “understanding of life and drive to make it worthwhile” as most important.

Paying attention to what he does with the “limited time we have in life,” LaRosee has “always wanted to leave a big impact on the world. If I can leave the world a better place through my life, I view that as successful” he said.

LaRosee is currently being considered for the National Honor Society, writes a column for the Dedham Transcript, works at Shaw’s Supermarket and plays ice hockey. He plans to pursue engineering or neuroscience in college.
