A home improvement opportunity and Thanksgiving football.

Blue Hills Regional Accepting Construction Applications
is accepting applications for house construction or large addition projects for the next school year. Residents or land owners within the nine district towns of Avon, Braintree, Canton, Dedham, Holbrook, Milton, Norwood, Randolph and Westwood are eligible to apply. Applicants must be residents or land owners for a minimum of five year, and submit applications no later than January 15, 2012.

Blue Hills students in the Construction Technology program work on the projects at a cost of 25% of the price of building materials handled. There is an additional $250 non-refundable application fee. Should your project not be selected in year one, the fee qualifies the applicant for consideration during the next four school years, but the application must be renewed each year. Owners must have financing, a complete set of architectural plans and all necessary permits and variances.

Early Childhood Screening Guidelines
The Canton Public Schools Early Childhood Program offers free preschool screenings for Canton residents between three and five years of age. The screening process is designed as a first step in identifying children that may need special education services in the preschool years. Children are screened in the following areas of development: motor, language, concepts, self-help and social development. Parents who are concerned about their child’s development may contact the Early Childhood Coordinator, Kelty Kelley, at 781 821-5060 ext. 1505 or by emailing kelleyk@cantonma.org to make an appointment or ask questions about the screening process.
