Blue Hills’ Coach Catabia Honored by Patriots
Ed Catabia has been named the New England Patriots in recognition of his team’s 24-0 victory over Diman Regional High School on Friday, Oct. 28. The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation will donate $1,000 to Blue Hills Regional High School’s football program in Catabia’s name in recognition of his Coach of the Week selection.

Patriots and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Andre Tippett, the team’s executive director of community affairs, visited Coach Catabia and his team on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at Blue Hills Regional High School. The visit and check presentation was featured on the team’s weekly television magazine show, Patriots All Access, which aired on Friday on WBZ-TV.

Anyone who knows a high school football coach in New England who has a great week or reaches a personal career milestone is encouraged to submit a nomination at nominatecoach@patriots.com.

Gifted and Talented Class Offered at Library
P.A.C.E. program alumnae Julie Santosuosso and Ellen Gillander have teamed up to offer a free program for gifted and talented students at the . Targeted for third and fourth graders who were not chosen for the P.A.C.E. gifted and talented program through the Canton Public Schools, the Monday evening class will focus on leadership and coursework. "Once Upon a Mattress” at CHS Next Weekend
Canton Drama presents the musical “Once Upon a Mattress” at the Auditorium on November 18 and 19. A musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, “The Princess and the Pea,” the musical tells the story of Prince Dauntless’ search for a wife, and the plucky princess Winnifred (or “Fred”) who swims the castle moat in her quest to be the lucky girl. Show time is 7:00 p.m. for both nights, and tickets are available at the door for $12 adults, $10 students and seniors.

Your columnist fondly remembers her turn as Queen Aggravain in her own high school production of the show, many moons ago. Go see the show. You’ll be glad you did!

Eat at CPK and Support Hansen
On Tuesday, November 8, help support and enjoy great pizza at the same time. The California Pizza Kitchen at South Shore Plaza in Braintree will donate 20% of your dining bill to the Hansen CAPT. Just bring in the flyer (PDF above) and present to your server. Take a night off from cooking and help support the kids!

December Driver Ed Offered
Canton Public Schools Driver Education will be held during winter break, December 26-30. Tuition for the program is $580 and is payable to the Town of Canton by check or money order. Registration begins on Monday, November 21; juniors and seniors can register beginning on November 14. For further information call 781-821-5050 ext. 2121 or email sullivanj@cantonma.org. Residents of Canton who are 16 years of age by March 26, 2012 are eligible to enroll.
