In the Schools: Canton's October 24 Edition

A film screening, art classes and a "howl" of a Halloween party.

"Race to Nowhere" Screening Tuesday
Tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m., Canton Public Schools will be showing the documentary film, Race to Nowhere. The documentary features stories of students across the country who have felt the pressure to be successful while trying to balance school, homework, extracurricular activities, friends, family and work. The film illustrates the extremes some go to in order for children to be successful. Following the screening in the auditorium, there will be a short period for reflection and discussion. The program is free; attendees are requested to register at http://rtncantonhsma.eventbrite.com/.

Mass Audubon Visual Arts Center Classes
Elementary students in Canton are invited to register for “Wild at Art,” an after-school art class series at the . Classes begin November 2. For more information and to register, visit the Mass Audubon website.

Pet Party at JFK
Dress up Fido in his finery and Puff in her puffery for the second annual Howl-O-Ween costume party for pets on Sunday at the School. Registration begins at 11:45 a.m.; click here for more information.

Hansen Readers Photo Gallery
To celebrate November as Family Literacy Month, reading specialist Amanda Walsh is collecting photos of Hansen students reading in different places. Photos of children reading on vacation, at the beach, at the library, in the car, a special spot in their homes and more will be displayed around the school. Hansen families are encouraged to send photos labeled with the child’s name, grade and homeroom to Miss Walsh’s attention at the Hansen.
