In the Schools: Canton's September 12 Edition

Faulty fire alarms, musical opportunities and a 6.6 million-step trek across the country

CHS Fire Alarm Malfunction, Repair
held its first fire drill of the year on Friday. During the drill, several problems with the fire alarm developed, and students and staff were directed to leave the building immediately upon the close of school. The home football game was allowed to proceed (Canton beat Weston 35-14) but the band did not perform as planned. The fire alarm system was repaired and tested late Friday night, and the building was again open for regular use.

Late Start for Early Childhood
The Canton Early Childhood Program postponed its first day of school until Friday, September 9, and Open House was held on Thursday, September 8. An assessment during the week of August 29 determined that delaying the opening would insure a more appropriate and safe learning environment in the wake of construction work done over the summer.
