New Principal for Galvin Middle School

Announcement made at last night's School Committee meeting.

The Galvin Middle School has a new principal.

At last night’s School Committee meeting, Superintendent of Canton Public Schools Jeff Granatino announced that the principal search committee completed the process and offered a job to Dr. William Conrad.

“We have offered him the position of principal,” Granatino announced last night.

The search committee brought forth one finalist out the group that “really shined,” Granatino said. Pending successful contract negotiations, Conrad will assume the role on July 1.  He will replace Principal Thomas LaLiberte, who is retiring this year after over 30 years in the education profession and nine years with the Canton Public School District.

“We are thrilled to be able to have (Conrad) here,” the superintendent said.

Conrad, a 1986 graduate of Canton High School, is a Canton resident and is currently serving as principal of Randolph High School. He has children in the Canton school system, and received his master’s degree and doctorate from DePaul University. He has also served in the Peace Corps, and worked as a teacher and school administrator, the superintendent told the School Committee last night.

“Dr. Conrad welcomes the challenges that we have as a district and he is excited to be a part of the dedicated and talented team of educators at the Galvin Middle School that will move the middle school and our district forward,” Granatino said in a statement today.

The search committee, headed up by Jen Henderson, included: School Committee Member Jill Stevens, CHS Principal Doug Dias, Assistant Principal Tom Walsh, Linda Nash, Jim Casamento, Pat McCarville, Roberta Goldman, Danette McGovern and Maggie Rubenacker.
