South Shore Conservatory Offers Teen Rock Camp During February Vacation
Students get to rock out this week at Rock Camp.
Middle and high school singers, guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, drummers and songwriters are unleashing their inner rock star at South Shore Conservatory’s new Rock Camp. The camp is taking place this week during February school vacation week at the South Shore Conservatory’s Duxbury campus.
Musicians from across the South Shore will join to form rock bands, learn the ropes and receive individualized performance coaching.
Rock Camp’s curriculum, developed by South Shore Conservatory’s team of professional musician/educators, touches on every aspect of performing in a real band. Workshops cover scales and soloing, rhythm playing, chords and inversions, licks and techniques as well as effective listening and improvisation. Vocalists have the opportunity to experience being a both lead vocalist and backup singer. Band rehearsals focus on stage presence, interacting with an audience and overall sound development. Videos of artists and bands are viewed and analyzed for stage, moves, costume development and audience participation.
