Welcome Back, Canton Students

Canton students kicked off the new school year Tuesday.

Welcome back, Canton students! flew by and the officially kicked off Tuesday in Canton. In their rain gear, the kids hit the school bus for the first time since June.

Although the did not have power for the first few hours, it was a successful first day all around, according to Superintendent of Schools Jeff Granatino.

The school had emergency lighting for the first few hours and by 9:00 a.m., power was restored, Granatino said at a Tuesday meeting.

Also, despite power being out to the high school for several days due to , teachers and staff were able to prep their classrooms and set up for the new school year.

Granatino said he was "proud of the work teachers and staff did. It bodes well for the new school year."
