The Canton A's are headed for the Northeast
Regional Stan Musial Playoffs after finishing in second place behind
the Braintree White Sox, who will be joining them in Wallingford, Conn.
The winner of the tournament will move on to the Stan
Musial World Series in Long Island, N,Y.
In the Cranberry League playoffs, The A's defeated the Weymouth Phillies, 4-1, before losing to the White Sox, 7-0, in the finals.
The A's finished with a
15-9 record, the same as the Weymouth, who Canton had the tie-breaker
advantage over. Braintree won going away with a first place mark of 21-3.
The A's Kee Arguimbau was named as the league's manager of the year. Selected to the all-star team from the A's were pitchers Dave Roberto and Zach Walker.
On the year, the A's batted .272 , scoring 97 runs and getting 176 hits. Andrew Vandini was the top hitter for the A's with a .345 average, while Cody Albanese was second at .329, followed by Nick Radcliffe at .326.
Roberto was 3-1 in seven games with a 1.17 earned run average on the mound, and Walker was 7-0 with a 1.55 ERA.
