Canton Athletes Named Boston Globe All-Scholastics

The Bulldogs had three All-Scholastics players this year.

The Boston Globe recently announced the All-Scholastics and All-Star players for the fall 2012 season and Canton has several athletes represented.

Three Bulldog student-athletes took home All-Scholastic honors:

  • Meaghan McKenna - Field Hockey; previously named a Canton Patch Athlete of the Week.
  • Lauren Berman - Girls' Soccer; previously named a Canton Patch Athlete of the Week.
  • Julia Murphy - Volleyball

In total, 61 athletes hailed from the South Shore area, according to an announcement Monday.

The Boston Globe All-Scholastic teams are chosen for each of the three high school sports seasons – fall, winter and spring. The fall sports include football, girls’ swimming, golf, field hockey, volleyball, boys’ and girls’ cross country, and boys’ and girls’ soccer.

“These student-athletes are among the best in eastern Massachusetts,” said Bob Holmes, high school sports editor for The Boston Globe, in a statement. “They remind us that hard work pays off, something they’ve illustrated through their athletic accomplishments.”
