Canton High Athletics Stay Alive in State Tournament

The Canton High boys' soccer, the girls' soccer, the field hockey and the volleyball teams are moving on in the state tournaments.

-The Canton High girls' volleyball team is moving on the quarterfinals of the Central tournament after blanking Foxborough, 3-0, Monday night at home. The Bulldogs will now be at home Thursday against either Medway or Westborough. Julia Murphy (11 kills and five aces), Avery Devone (nine kills and four blocks) and Jackie Bornemann (four kills and seven aces) were standouts for the Bulldogs in the win over Foxborough.

-The Canton High girls' field hockey team will be traveling to Apponequet Wednesday for a 2:30 p.m. in the Division 2 South semifinals. Meaghan McKenna scored on a penalty stroke Monday to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 win at Old Rochester.

 -The Canton High boys' soccer team blanked Southeastern Regional, 4-0, Monday in South Easton is the first round of the Division 2 South tournament.    The Bulldogs are in Hingham today for a 2 p.m. game in the quarterfinals. Against the Hawks, Canton's Michael Denehy had two goals, while Damian Kozak and Wolfe Gustave each had single tallies.

-The Canton High girls' soccer team is at home Tuesday night against Scituate. In the first tournament, the Bulldogs got a hat trick from Lauren Berman on their way to a 7-1 win over Dighton-Rehoboth.

-The Canton High football team will be hosting Oliver Ames Friday night in a 7 p.m. contest.
