Canton High Fall Athletic Teams Move on in State Tournament

The Canton High boys' soccer, girls' soccer and field hockey teams are moving on in the state tournament, while volleyball team will be starting Monday night.

The Canton High fall athletic teams are moving on in the tournament.

Monday, the Canton High field hockey team will be moving on to play at Old Rochester Regional in a 2:30 p.m in a match-up of fourth and fifth seeds. Alex Dillion scored with two minutes left in the final overtime period, beating Dedham, 2-1, Saturday in the first round tournament game. Katie Kelleher add the other goal for the Bulldogs.

After beating Norwood, 2-1, on penalty kicks Friday, the Canton High boys' soccer team is moving on in the Division 2 South tournament to face Southeastern Regional in South Easton Monday at 4 p.m. With one minute left in the game, the Bulldogs' Matt Lennon scored to tie the game at one and prevent Canton from being upset in the first round of the tournament. Art McNalley came up big in net for the Bulldogs, making a big save on Norwood's seventh shooter in overtime to move on in the tournament.

The Canton High girls' volleyball team will be opening up the tournament against Foxborough, Monday night at home at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs are the No. 1 seed in Division 2 Central-East bracket. Canton was 19-0 on the season.

The Canton High girls' soccer team will be in action Tuesday against either Scituate or Sandwich in a 5 p.m. In their first tournament game, the Bulldogs had an easy time in a 7-1 win over Dighton-Rehoboth Saturday as Maryland-bound Lauren Berman had three goals.

Friday night, the Canton High football team ran into a very strong North Attleboro squad, dropping a 49-30 decision at Community Field. Elias Camacho scored three touchdowns. A big highlight for the Bulldogs was Yanni Papadopoulos' 84-yard touchdown run. The Bulldogs will be hosting Oliver Ames Friday night.
