Canton Native Guides Franklin Pierce to College World Series

Jayson King has built a baseball powerhouse program at Franklin Pierce University.

Canton native Jayson King has built the Franklin Pierce University baseball program into a regional powerhouse that is extending its success to the national ranks.

In his 15th season at the helm, King guided Franklin Pierce to Division 2 College World Series where they lost in the finals to Minnesota State/Mankato, 10-5, in Cary, NC. 

King has a career record, which also includes two season at UMass-Boston, of 544-307-3 and won his 500th game at Franklin Pierce this season.

During his time with the Ravens, King has had 21 players taken in the Major League Draft.

A 1993 graduate of Framingham State with a bachelor's degree in sociology, King was a four-year letterwinner for the Rams. In 1996, he earned his master's degree in physical education from Springfield.

He has also been a volunteer coach with the Lowell Spinners in the Boston Red Sox organization and also was an assistant coach with the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League. One of the players, he coached there was major league outfielder David DeJesus.

King currently resides in Westminster, with his wife, Missy, daughter, Catherine, and son, Justin.
